Incredibly friendly, affectionate, and playful, the Golden Retriever remains one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States. This breed is a devoted family companion and is incredibly obedient and eager to please.
They’re also extremely active and need daily physical and mental exercise. Without this stimulation, they can sometimes have behavior problems. They also need human companionship and can sometimes suffer from separation anxiety.
Golden Retrievers are usually very calm and well-mannered in the home, and boisterous and exuberant when invited to play. They do best with a fenced-in yard where they can safely run and play retrieving games.
You’ll need to brush their long coats at least twice a week and make sure they don’t become overweight as this can lead to health problems.
