An extremely friendly and affectionate dog, Bloodhounds are also quite active and playful. They make good family pets and are very trustworthy around children, although some may not want to play as much a child would like. They can also sometimes be stubborn and independent and are often reserved with strangers.
These dogs are excellent trackers and won’t give up a trail once they pick one up. This makes it more likely that they could wander off and get lost. It’s important keep them on a leash unless they’re in a safe, fenced-in area. Bloodhounds are very easy to train when it comes to tracking but not as easy to train in basic obedience.
These dogs need a significant amount of daily exercise. They also drool a lot so you’ll need to clean their facial wrinkles every day. Coat care is minimal but they need their ears cleaned regularly to avoid infections.
